Adrift
This series emanates from personal feelings of futility, and isolation. They became expressed through the image of a small weathered, wooden boat. By situating it within still waters, it provided a metaphor for searching the depths of ones psyche. It also led me to consider what might be carried within in terms of “precious cargo” The bonsai tree, bed, tiny wooden house, small lighthouse, all symbolize touchstones, markers, all uprooted, and set adrift. They extend to be emblematic of personal and cultural uprootedness and isolation.
